Fire History Polygon Coverage for <Park Name>, <State>, <start year> - <current year>

 <descript>
The fire history polygons represent the extents of large fires at <PARKNAME> from <START YEAR> through the <End Year> fire season. All types of fires; suppression, prescribed, and Wildland fire use fires are included in the data sets. This data is maintained at the Park level to track the area affected by fire. Polygons were obtained from the best available source. In some cases this
may include a variety of sources including, but not limited to mylar overlays,
paper USGS maps, and detailed drawings associated with original fire reports
(DI-1202). In many cases the data sets will not be complete over time. While it
is recognized that virtually all of the historic fire perimeters (pre-GPS) are hand
drawings care should be taken in ensuring that the data is at least reasonably
accurate. For example, sketch drawings on the DI-1202 forms, which do not
include detailed reference points to allow a reasonably accurate spatial
placement of the fire, were not considered appropriate for inclusion in the data set. The data set includes all fires that have been documented that are within the park's fire jurisdiction regardless of land ownership, agency responsible for the fire, or type of fire (natural, prescribed, arson).
